Course Overview
Our internship course combines the best of both worlds – engaging online lectures and immersive hands-on projects. Here’s how it works:
Part I – Knowledge Acquisition (November 2023 – February 2024)
In this captivating phase, participants will engage in a series of online lectures that demystify the world of research. Key topics to be covered are listed below:
- Introduction to Research: Uncover the importance of research, learn how to become a researcher, explore career prospects, and delve into various types of research and research papers.
- Research Ethics: Understand the critical ethical considerations that underpin research, ensuring that your work adheres to the highest standards of integrity.
- Primary Research: Master study designs, from experimental (randomized and non-randomized trials) to observational (cohort, cross-sectional, case-control) methods.
- Research Methods: Gain insight into qualitative research methods, including focus groups, personal interviews, ethnography, and case studies. You’ll also become proficient in conducting experiments and surveys.
- Introduction to Quantitative Research: Dive into the world of quantitative research, exploring concepts like population and sample, types of data, descriptive statistics, and inferential statistics. We’ll decode P-values, confidence intervals, and probability testing together.
- Secondary Research: Explore the realm of secondary research, discover the various types, and learn how to navigate the delicate art of referencing without falling prey to plagiarism.
After each lecture, participants will have the opportunity to put their knowledge to the test with carefully crafted tasks. These assignments are designed to reinforce your understanding and prepare you for the upcoming research projects.
Part II – Application and Publication (February 2024 – May 2024)
In this phase, participants will embark on a hands-on research journey, applying what they have learned to real-world projects. This involves:
Research Projects: Collaborate with our experienced mentors and fellow participants on at least 3 – 4 projects. Dive into the heart of research, from crafting research questions to data collection and analysis.
Publication: Experience the thrill of publishing your research findings. Our research mentors will guide participants through the process, from manuscript preparation to submitting your work to journals.
